“Why aren’t you signed up for the 401K? I’d never be able to run that far”

On A Personal Note…

We had the pleasure of attending a surprise 60th birthday party for one of our longtime clients this month. It was an unforgettable day filled with laughter, delays, and featured speaker laringitis….HAHA. Andy and I were so touched to be included in such a personal celebration. It was a powerful reminder that the relationships we build in business often go far beyond the work itself.

We’re truly grateful for the trust and friendships we’ve developed over the years with all of our plan sponsors and participants. Here’s to many more to come…….

Managed Accounts Offer a More Personalized Approach

Target-date funds have long played a vital role in giving American workers access to professional help when establishing and maintaining a diversified investment portfolio. However, the glide paths — the balance of stocks, bonds, and cash — that serve as the foundation for these platforms has traditionally been based on a single consideration: the participant’s projected date of retirement….

Don’t Take Forfeitures for Granted

Retirement plans have long subjected employer contributions to vesting schedules, rewarding tenure by increasing the participant’s ownership in those contributions in proportion to their years of service.

However, several law firms have recently challenged this long-standing and common practice, arguing that using forfeitures to offset employer contributions is not in the best interests of participants or beneficiaries, as ERISA requires….

Basic Fiduciary Obligations for New Plan Sponsors

Threats of financial penalties and legal liabilities heighten the need for proper compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Let’s go over the basics of what it means to be a fiduciary in an organization’s retirement plan….

Participant Corner

No matter how old you are, it’s never too early (or late) to save money for retirement. Each decade comes with different goals, investment types, and risk factors, but understanding the difference can help you be prepared for when your retirement comes around….

Mr. C’s Movie (Show) Review

This month I put on my James Bond/American Sniper hat and took in the full first season of The Day of the Jackal. An 8 episode series telling the story of an elite sniper, a master of disguise and a highly trained killer. The Jackal (played coldly by Eddie Redmayne) is an assassin, coldly carrying out hits for a fee……I know what you are thinking Eddie Redmayne from Fantastical Beasts is this alleged elite killer….HECK YES. The series opens following an attack on a high-profile German politician, which parlays into an offer on the riskiest job yet, one that could pay him enough to leave this life for good. Clearly you can’t go around the world taking out high profile targets and not draw the attention of the series’ antagonist Bianca (played by the British actress Lashana Lynch), a tenacious British intelligence officer, whose world-class expertise in firearms makes her the ideal candidate to hunt him down. Get ready for a cat-and-mouse game across Europe in some of the most beautiful scenery the world has to offer. However, as the hunt continues and non-mission specific deaths are adding up, it becomes clear that there are ulterior motives at play. As both Bianca and the Jackal’s personal lives clash with their work, they risk everything, pushing themselves to their limits with disastrous consequences.

On a scale of: “Like It”, “Love It”, or “Gotta Have It”; it’s a “Love It” for me. Eddie Redmayne did it for me. So cool, so calculated, so JACKAL. Don’t we all wish that we could snipe from 2+ miles away. HAHA. Enjoy the series for what it is, a crash course in artsy death scenes.
